Descaling
Descaling allows us to remove heavy scale build up in cast iron piping, thus allowing water to flow freely which may allow your cast iron to last long based on its condition. A descale machine has various chains attached to the end of a cable that when turned on, spin to the exact circumference of your pipe. By pushing the cable through, the chains will scrape off the scale that is there. Will this damage the cast iron? No, it will not. The only thing the chains are affecting is the scale. The scale is cast iron that has already been lost due to age and build-up. Though this will not affect the integrity of cast iron itself, it may reveal challenges you may not have seen that the scale was covering or holding together. After a descaling, hydro-jetting is required so scale is not left in the pipe afterward.
Pipe Bursting
Pipe Bursting replaces the actual sewer with Poly Pipe, which is virtually indestructible. Poly pipe is not rigid, thus allowing the pipe to move within reason as the earth does, and it’s impervious to root intrusion. Using hydraulics to pull the Poly Pipe with what is called a “bursting head” attached to one end, the Poly Pipe is pulled through the old pipe. The “bursting head” breaks the old pipe and simultaneously installs a new pipe in its place behind it. This process is dramatically less invasive than trenching.
C.I.P.P. (Cured in Place Pipe)
C.I.P.P. liners allow for a “second skin” liner to rehabilitate the sewer already in place with minimal intrusion, ideal for areas with decorative hardscape or soft cape and under streets (where allowed). We only use city-approved materials, thus ensuring the integrity of the project. Unlike a traditional pipe made of hard material, the line is flexible. Though it uses the existing pipe to attach to, it is warrantied against reasonable seismic movements and impervious to roots.
